And Yet: Finding Joy in Lament

Updated: Apr 3, 2022

As part of my own mental health journey I have a list of books I want to read that are at the intersection of mental health (or suffering in general) and faith. I know, not happy subject to focus on, but something I want to grapple with over time. I will post them with the tag "Journey to Joy".

Anyway, And Yet is the second book I've read on that "journey". It's a book that goes into what lament is, how it's often overlooked (or avoided) in Christian circles, and why it's important to reclaim. God meets us when we bring him our honest difficult feelings and begins our healing there.

It's a humble book and by no means ground-breaking. If you've already explored the concept of lament you probably don't need to read this. But if the concept is relatively new to you and you want some thoughts on how to have faith through challenging circumstances, it could be a helpful book!
