This is one of the most enjoyable theology books I've read in a while. The author says it's written for pastors and laypeople, but I think she understates that a bit because it's definitely not a light read. But for anyone who wants to dig deep into the atonement - what the cross accomplished - I'd highly recommend it. Another notable feature is that she seems to come from a mainline church and is very familiar with the progressive perspective, yet defends a fairly conservative perspective of the atonement.
